E6 displayed; indoor unit may start then stop; sometimes accompanied by outdoor unit not responding
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and wait for the indoor fan to stop completely before opening the unit.
- 1. Check for obstructions: Open the front panel and visually inspect the cross-flow blower wheel for foreign objects (plastic, insulation, insects). Remove any obstructions carefully.
- 2. Spin the blower by hand: With power off, gently rotate the blower wheel. It should spin freely without grinding or resistance. If stiff, the motor bearings may be failing.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Locate the multi-pin connector from the indoor fan motor to the PCB. Ensure it is fully seated and free of corrosion or burn marks.
- 4. Test motor (qualified persons): On DC motors, measure resistance between motor terminals and check for shorts to ground. Compare with Camry service data.
- 5. Trial run: Reassemble, restore power, and run the unit. If E6 reappears immediately and the fan does not start or runs erratically, the motor or PCB is likely defective.
Note: Replacing the indoor fan motor on Camry wall-mounted units usually requires removing the entire blower assembly; this is moderately complex.
