Indoor Room Temperature Sensor Fault
F1 error; unit may run but temperature control is inaccurate or erratic
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Failed room temperature sensor (T2) in Camry indoor unit, Sensor disconnected from indoor PCB, Sensor displaced from correct location near air intake, Short or open circuit in sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing the indoor unit cover.
- 1. Locate T2 sensor: The room sensor is usually near the air intake grille on the indoor unit. Confirm it is properly clipped in place and not dangling inside the casing.
- 2. Inspect wiring: Trace the sensor leads back to the PCB and ensure the connector is firmly seated.
- 3. Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare with Camry’s NTC chart. Replace if readings are out of range.
- 4. Avoid heat sources: Ensure the sensor area is not directly exposed to sunlight, lamps, or other heat sources that can cause false readings.
- 5. Replace sensor if needed: Install a genuine Camry replacement sensor and route the wiring away from high-voltage lines to avoid interference.
Result: After replacement, clear the error by power cycling and verify stable temperature control.
