Possible Causes
Inverter module overheating on Camry outdoor PCB, Shorted compressor windings, Poor ventilation around outdoor unit, Faulty IPM (Intelligent Power Module)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power and wait for at least 10 minutes before touching the outdoor PCB or compressor area.
- 1. Check ventilation: Ensure the outdoor unit has adequate clearance and is not installed in a confined space trapping hot air.
- 2. Inspect PCB heat sink: Look for dust buildup on the inverter heat sink and clean gently if accessible.
- 3. Measure compressor current (technician): Excessive current draw indicates compressor or refrigerant issues.
- 4. Test compressor windings: As with E5, check for shorts or imbalance.
- 5. Replace IPM/PCB if needed: If the compressor is healthy but H3 persists, the inverter module or entire outdoor PCB may need replacement.
