How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Repeated breaker tripping is a fire hazard. Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips immediately.
- Step 1 – Note when it trips: Observe whether the breaker trips immediately on start or after some run time.
- Step 2 – Visual inspection: With power OFF, inspect wiring at the outdoor disconnect and unit for burns or melted insulation.
- Step 3 – Do not oversize breaker: Never replace a breaker with a larger size to stop tripping.
- Step 4 – Technician service: A Carrier technician should measure current draw, check compressor and motor windings, and correct any wiring or component faults.
