How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power before touching any moving parts.
- Step 1 – Identify source: Listen near the indoor and outdoor units to determine where the noise originates.
- Step 2 – Tighten panels: Check all access panels and covers for loose screws and tighten them.
- Step 3 – Inspect fans: Look for debris in the indoor blower or outdoor fan. Remove any foreign objects.
- Step 4 – Check fan blades: Ensure the outdoor fan blade is tight on the motor shaft and not bent. Straighten minor bends carefully or replace the blade.
- Step 5 – Motor bearings: If noise is a grinding or squealing sound, the motor bearings may be failing and the motor should be replaced.
