Carrier air conditioner makes loud rattling or buzzing noises during operation

Safety: Turn OFF power before touching any moving parts.

• Step 1 – Identify source: Listen near the indoor and outdoor units to determine where the noise originates.
• Step 2 – Tighten panels: Check all access panels and covers for loose screws and tighten them.
• Step 3 – Inspect fans: Look for debris in the indoor blower or outdoor fan. Remove any foreign objects.
• Step 4 – Check fan blades: Ensure the outdoor fan blade is tight on the motor shaft and not bent. Straighten minor bends carefully or replace the blade.
• Step 5 – Motor bearings: If noise is a grinding or squealing sound, the motor bearings may be failing and the motor should be replaced.
