Possible Causes
Dead remote batteries, Obstructed IR receiver window, Failed IR receiver board, Remote out of sync with indoor unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No high-voltage work is required for basic checks, but turn OFF power before opening the indoor unit.
- Step 1 – Replace batteries: Install fresh, correct-type batteries in the remote.
- Step 2 – Check line of sight: Ensure nothing blocks the IR path between remote and indoor unit. Stand within a few meters and aim directly at the receiver.
- Step 3 – Test remote: Point the remote at a smartphone camera and press a button; you should see the IR LED flash on the screen. If not, the remote may be faulty.
- Step 4 – Inspect receiver: Clean the IR receiver window on the indoor unit. If still unresponsive, the IR receiver board may need replacement.
