Possible Causes

Dirty indoor air filter, Dirty evaporator or condenser coil, Low refrigerant charge, Undersized unit for room load

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF power before cleaning coils or opening panels.

  • Step 1 – Clean or replace filter: Remove the indoor filter and wash or replace it according to Carrier's instructions.
  • Step 2 – Clean indoor coil: Gently vacuum or brush dust from the evaporator coil. Use a foaming coil cleaner if heavily soiled.
  • Step 3 – Clean outdoor coil: Rinse the condenser coil with a garden hose from inside out.
  • Step 4 – Check room conditions: Close windows and doors, reduce heat sources (ovens, direct sun), and ensure all supply registers are open.
  • Step 5 – Technician check: If cooling is still poor, have a Carrier technician check refrigerant charge and system sizing.
