Possible Causes

Failed DC indoor fan motor, Faulty fan motor hall sensor, Loose fan motor connector, Defective indoor PCB fan driver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF power at the breaker before opening the indoor unit.

  • Step 1 – Listen for fan: When you turn the unit ON, check if you hear the indoor fan start. If the louvers move but no airflow is felt, the fan motor may be faulty.
  • Step 2 – Access fan motor: Remove the front cover, filter, and lower housing to expose the blower wheel and motor. Inspect for obstructions (plastic, insulation) preventing rotation.
  • Step 3 – Check wiring: Locate the multi-pin connector from the fan motor to the indoor PCB. Reseat the connector and inspect for corrosion or burnt pins.
  • Step 4 – Spin test: With power OFF, spin the blower wheel by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If stiff, the motor bearings may be seized.
  • Step 5 – Replace motor: If E6 persists and the fan does not run, replace the indoor DC fan motor assembly with a Carrier-compatible part. Transfer the blower wheel carefully and balance it properly.
  • Step 6 – PCB check: If a new motor does not resolve E6, the indoor PCB fan driver circuit may be defective and should be replaced.
