Full Drain Pan / Water Level Sensor Fault
Indoor unit displays E9 and may leak water or shut down unexpectedly

Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain line, Blocked drain pan outlet, Faulty float switch or water level sensor, Improper unit leveling causing poor drainage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power before working around water and electrical components.
- Step 1 – Check for visible water: Remove the front cover and inspect the drain pan under the evaporator coil. If full of water, place towels or a tray underneath.
- Step 2 – Clear drain line: Locate the condensate drain line exiting the indoor unit. Use a wet/dry vacuum at the end of the line outside to suck out clogs. Alternatively, blow compressed air gently from the indoor side.
- Step 3 – Clean drain pan: Remove debris, algae, or slime from the pan. Use a mild bleach solution (if allowed by local code) to disinfect and prevent future growth.
- Step 4 – Check float switch: If equipped, inspect the float switch or water level sensor in the pan. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck in the raised (full) position. Clean and reseat the sensor connector on the PCB.
- Step 5 – Level the unit: Verify the indoor unit is slightly tilted toward the drain outlet to promote drainage.
- Step 6 – Test operation: After clearing water and clogs, restore power and run the unit. If E9 persists, the water level sensor may need replacement.
