Possible Causes
Dirty indoor air filter, Blocked or dirty indoor evaporator coil, Low refrigerant charge in Chigo system, Faulty indoor fan motor or low fan speed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing covers or filters.
- Step 1 – Clean or replace filters: Open the front panel of the indoor unit, remove the air filters, and wash them with mild soap and water. Let them dry completely before reinstalling.
- Step 2 – Check airflow: Ensure all supply louvers are open and that furniture or curtains are not blocking the indoor unit.
- Step 3 – Inspect evaporator coil: With the front panel and filters removed, visually inspect the evaporator coil. If it is heavily clogged with dust, use a soft brush or coil cleaner designed for split AC units. Avoid bending fins.
- Step 4 – Verify indoor fan operation: Run the unit and listen for the indoor fan. If the fan is slow, noisy, or stops, the indoor fan motor or its capacitor may be failing and should be tested and replaced.
- Step 5 – Call a technician for low refrigerant: If E2 recurs after cleaning and airflow checks, low refrigerant or a leak is likely. A licensed technician must locate the leak, repair it, and recharge the system.
