Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain pipe, Misaligned indoor unit causing poor drainage, Frozen evaporator coil melting and overflowing, Cracked drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before working near water and electrical parts.
- Step 1 – Check filters and coil: Clean filters and ensure the coil is not iced over. If iced, turn off the unit and let it thaw completely.
- Step 2 – Clear drain line: Locate the drain hose outside. Use a wet/dry vacuum on the hose end to suck out sludge and debris. Alternatively, blow compressed air from the indoor side if accessible.
- Step 3 – Verify unit level: Use a level to ensure the indoor unit is slightly tilted toward the drain side. Adjust mounting if necessary.
- Step 4 – Inspect drain pan: Remove the front cover and inspect the plastic drain pan for cracks. Replace the indoor drain pan if damaged.
