Possible Causes
Failed fan capacitor, Worn fan motor bearings, Incorrect replacement motor on Coleman unit, Voltage drop to motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power before working on the fan. Never push the fan blade with power on.
- Test capacitor: Discharge and test the fan or dual run capacitor. Replace if out of spec.
- Check motor rotation: Spin the fan by hand. If it is stiff or noisy, replace the motor.
- Verify motor specs: Ensure any replacement motor matches the original Coleman motor’s horsepower, RPM, and rotation.
- Inspect wiring: Confirm correct wiring per the Coleman schematic; miswiring can cause low speed.
Note: Running a motor with a bad capacitor can quickly destroy the motor.
