Possible Causes
Tripped outdoor breaker or blown fuse at disconnect, Failed contactor in Coleman condenser, Open compressor/fan capacitor, Broken low-voltage control wire
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF the outdoor disconnect and breaker before opening the condenser panel.
- Check disconnect and fuses: Ensure the disconnect is fully inserted. If it uses fuses, test or replace them with the correct rating.
- Inspect contactor: With power OFF, inspect the contactor for burnt or pitted contacts. Replace if damaged.
- Test capacitor: Discharge and test the dual run capacitor. Replace if out of tolerance.
- Verify 24V call: With power ON and a call for cooling, measure 24V across the contactor coil. If no voltage, trace low-voltage wiring back to the air handler and thermostat.
- Repair wiring: Fix any broken or shorted control wires between the indoor and outdoor units.
Warning: High voltage is present in the condenser; if unsure, contact a professional.
