Possible Causes
Loose condenser fan blade on Coleman unit, Worn condenser fan motor bearings, Loose compressor mounting bolts, Debris in fan shroud
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power at the disconnect and breaker before inspecting the outdoor unit.
- Inspect fan blade: Remove the top grille and check that the fan blade is tight on the motor shaft. Tighten the set screw if loose.
- Remove debris: Clear any sticks, leaves, or foreign objects from the fan shroud and coil area.
- Check motor bearings: Spin the fan blade by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, the motor bearings are likely worn and the motor should be replaced.
- Compressor mounts: Inspect the rubber mounting grommets under the compressor. Tighten loose bolts and replace cracked grommets to reduce vibration.
- Level the unit: Ensure the Coleman condenser is level on its pad; shim if necessary to reduce vibration.
Warning: Do not bend the fan blades; replace them if damaged.
