Possible Causes

Failed freeze sensor on evaporator coil, Sensor not properly clipped to coil, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty Coleman-Mach control board input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect RV power and ensure the rooftop unit is cool before working near the coil.

  • Access the evaporator: Remove the interior shroud and any additional covers to expose the evaporator coil of the Coleman-Mach unit.
  • Locate freeze sensor: The freeze sensor is usually clipped to the evaporator coil tubing near the center or lower portion of the coil.
  • Verify attachment: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped to the coil. If loose or hanging, reattach with the original clip or a new one from a Coleman sensor kit.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the sensor wires for damage and ensure the connector is fully seated on the control board.
  • Replace sensor: If F2 remains after reseating and inspecting, replace the freeze sensor with a Coleman-Mach approved part.
  • System reset: Restore power and reset the thermostat. Run the unit and confirm F2 does not reappear.

Warning: Do not bend the coil excessively; this can cause refrigerant leaks.
