Possible Causes
Blocked return air on Coleman air handler, Failed indoor blower motor, Dirty evaporator coil, High ambient temperature around outdoor unit with poor ventilation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power before opening panels. Overheated components may be hot to the touch.
- Restore airflow: Replace the indoor air filter and ensure all return grilles are unobstructed. Open closed supply registers.
- Check blower operation: Run the fan in ON mode. If no airflow, inspect the blower motor, belt (if belt-driven), and capacitor. Replace failed components.
- Clean evaporator coil: Access and clean the indoor coil if it is matted with dust or debris.
- Outdoor ventilation: Ensure the Coleman condenser has adequate clearance and is not installed in a confined space without proper ventilation.
- Reset lockout: After correcting airflow and allowing the system to cool, reset H1 by cycling power at the breaker and thermostat.
Note: Persistent H1 may indicate undersized ductwork or improper installation; consult a Coleman dealer.
