Safety: Turn off power to the air handler before cleaning.

Steps:

• Inspect coil and pan: Remove access panel and look for slime or mold on coil and in pan.
• Clean coil: Use an approved foaming coil cleaner suitable for Comfortmaker evaporator coils.
• Disinfect drain pan: Clean pan with a mild bleach solution (if compatible) and flush drain line.
• Improve filtration: Install a higher-quality filter and replace regularly.
• Consider UV light: Have a technician install a UV germicidal lamp near the coil to reduce growth.
