Possible Causes

Dirty air filter or blocked return, Blower motor not running or low speed, Low refrigerant charge, Faulty evaporator temperature sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off the Comfortmaker system at the thermostat and breaker to allow ice to melt before further inspection.

Steps:

  • Check and replace filter: Install a clean filter of the correct size and MERV rating.
  • Inspect evaporator coil: Once thawed, check for dirt buildup. Clean with a non-rinse coil cleaner if accessible.
  • Verify blower operation: Ensure the indoor fan runs at proper speed. Investigate E7 or motor issues if airflow is weak.
  • Check supply/return registers: Open all registers and remove obstructions.
  • Reset and test: After airflow corrections and thawing, restore power and test. If F2 returns, a refrigerant or sensor issue is likely.

Technician required: Persistent F2 with good airflow suggests low charge or a faulty TXV/sensor, which must be handled by a professional.
