Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, Faulty fan capacitor (if separate), Obstructed fan blade, Faulty main PCB fan output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before servicing the fan. Beware of sharp fins and edges.
Steps:
- 1. Visual check: With the rear cover removed, observe whether the fan attempts to start when the compressor runs. If it hums but does not spin, the motor or capacitor is suspect.
- 2. Spin test: With power off, spin the fan blade by hand. If stiff or noisy, replace the motor.
- 3. Capacitor: If the fan uses a separate capacitor, inspect and test it. Replace if bulged or out of spec.
- 4. Wiring: Verify the fan motor connector is secure and wires are intact.
- 5. Replace motor: Remove the fan blade, unbolt the motor, and install a Danby-compatible condenser fan motor. Reinstall the blade and ensure correct rotation direction.
