Possible Causes
Open or shorted room thermistor, Loose sensor connector, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
This fault is functionally similar to E1 on some Danby models.
Safety: Unplug the unit before opening.
Steps:
- 1. Access control area: Remove the front panel and control cover to expose the main PCB and sensor wiring.
- 2. Locate ambient sensor: Find the small thermistor near the air intake grille. Verify it is positioned correctly and not touching hot components.
- 3. Check connector and wiring: Reseat the sensor connector on the PCB and inspect the wire for damage.
- 4. Test resistance: Measure the thermistor resistance at room temperature. Replace if open, shorted, or far out of specification.
- 5. Replace PCB if needed: If the sensor is good but F1 persists, replace the main control board.
