Possible Causes
Fan motor not starting, Blocked blower wheel, Failed fan motor Hall sensor, Loose fan connector, Faulty PCB fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working near moving parts.
Steps:
- 1. Check for obstructions: Remove the front grille and filter. Inspect the blower wheel for foreign objects and remove any debris.
- 2. Manual spin: Spin the blower by hand. If it binds or grinds, the motor or bearings are failing and should be replaced.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Verify the fan motor connector is fully seated on the PCB and wires are intact.
- 4. Test motor (advanced): With power applied and a fan command active, measure the supply to the motor per service data. If voltage is present but the motor does not run, replace the motor. If no voltage, suspect the PCB.
- 5. Replace components: Install a new Danby indoor fan motor or main PCB as indicated by testing.
