Possible Causes
Evaporator coil too cold, Sensor detecting frost, Low ambient temperature, Faulty evaporator sensor reading low
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On some Danby models, H1 is informational, indicating defrost or compressor delay, not a fault.
Steps:
- 1. Allow defrost: Let the unit run in fan mode for 10–15 minutes. H1 may clear automatically once the coil warms.
- 2. Check ambient conditions: If the room is very cold, the unit may limit cooling. Ensure the space is within the operating temperature range specified in the manual.
- 3. Inspect evaporator sensor: If H1 persists in normal temperatures, follow the evaporator sensor checks described for E2/F2 (inspect mounting, wiring, and resistance).
- 4. Clean filter and coil: A restricted airflow can cause coil icing. Clean the air filter and evaporator coil.
