How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Use appropriate respiratory protection if sensitive to mold.
Steps:
- 1. Clean filter: Wash the air filter thoroughly and allow it to dry.
- 2. Access evaporator: Remove the front cover to expose the evaporator coil and drain pan.
- 3. Clean coil: Spray a no-rinse foaming coil cleaner suitable for AC units onto the evaporator fins. Allow it to work per product instructions.
- 4. Clean drain pan: Wipe the pan with a cloth and a mild bleach solution (or AC-safe disinfectant) to kill mold and mildew. Ensure the drain hole is clear.
- 5. Dry-out cycle: After reassembly, run the unit in FAN-ONLY mode for 30–60 minutes after each cooling session to dry the coil and reduce future odor.
