Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain hole or channel, Unit not tilted correctly (window models), Cracked drain pan, Excessive humidity overwhelming drainage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before tilting or removing panels. Protect floors from water damage.
Steps:
- 1. Check tilt (window units): Ensure the unit is slightly tilted downward toward the outside so water flows outdoors, not indoors.
- 2. Clear drain hole: On window units, locate the drain hole at the rear of the base pan. Use a small wire or pipe cleaner to clear any blockage.
- 3. Inspect internal channels: Remove the front cover and inspect the condensate collection tray and channels. Clean out slime, dust, and debris with warm water and a soft brush.
- 4. Portable units: Verify that drain plugs and caps are properly installed and that any continuous drain hose is not kinked or elevated above the drain outlet.
- 5. Check for cracks: Inspect the plastic drain pan for cracks or splits. Replace the drain pan assembly if damaged.
