How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the outdoor disconnect and indoor breaker before servicing. Electronic boards are static-sensitive.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Leave power OFF to both indoor and outdoor units for at least 5 minutes, then restore. Sometimes an EEPROM error will clear after a full reset.
- Step 2 – Inspect outdoor PCB: Remove the condenser service panel. Check the control board for burn marks, insect nests, or moisture damage. Ensure all multi-pin connectors are fully seated.
- Step 3 – Check cabinet sealing: Confirm the control compartment cover gasket is intact to prevent future moisture intrusion.
- Step 4 – Surge protection: If E6 followed a storm or power event, consider installing a surge protector on the condensing unit (by a professional) after board replacement.
