Possible Causes
Slow leak in indoor evaporator coil, Slow leak in outdoor condenser coil, Leaking Schrader cores at service ports, Micro-leaks at brazed joints
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to add refrigerant without proper certification. Running with low charge can damage the compressor.
- Step 1 – Filter and coil check: Ensure filters are clean and coils are not dirty, as these can mimic low charge symptoms.
- Step 2 – Suction line temperature: Carefully feel the large insulated suction line at the outdoor unit while running. It should be cool to cold and sweating in humid conditions. If barely cool, charge may be low.
- Step 3 – Inspect for oil stains: Look for oily spots on tubing and around service valves indicating leaks.
- Professional repair: A licensed technician must locate leaks, repair them, evacuate, and recharge the Day & Night system to factory specifications.
