Possible Causes
Open or shorted evaporator NTC sensor, Loose sensor clip on evaporator coil, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty main PCB sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before opening any panels.
- 1. Access evaporator: Remove the front or side panel (depending on model) to expose the evaporator coil. The sensor is usually clipped to the coil tubing.
- 2. Inspect sensor and clip: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil and has not fallen off. Reclip it tightly to the tubing if loose.
- 3. Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the main PCB. Look for cuts, abrasions, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector.
- 4. Test resistance: Measure the sensor resistance at room temperature and compare with specifications. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range or intermittent when gently wiggling the wires.
- 5. Reassemble and test: After replacing or reseating the sensor, reassemble the panels, plug in, and test operation.
If E2 persists with a new sensor, the main control board likely needs replacement.
