Possible Causes
Failed condenser NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from condenser coil, Broken sensor wiring, Defective main PCB sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before working near the condenser.
- 1. Access condenser: Remove the rear panel on portable units or the outdoor section cover on split/window units to expose the condenser coil.
- 2. Locate sensor: Find the small sensor clipped to the condenser tubing or fins. Ensure it is firmly attached and not hanging loose.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Check for chafed insulation or broken wires where they pass through metal openings. Repair or replace damaged harnesses.
- 4. Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare to the De'Longhi service chart. Replace the sensor if readings are out of spec.
- 5. PCB check: If a new sensor does not clear E3, the main control board may be faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
