Possible Causes
Internal condensate tank full, Blocked condensate drain hose, Faulty float switch or water level sensor, Unit not level causing poor drainage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the unit OFF and unplug it before draining water.
- 1. Drain the tank: Move the unit to a location where water spillage is acceptable. Remove the lower drain cap or plug at the rear/bottom and drain water into a shallow pan or tray until flow stops.
- 2. Check continuous drain setup: If using a continuous drain hose, ensure it is not kinked, elevated above the drain outlet, or blocked. The hose should slope downward continuously.
- 3. Clean drain port: Use a small brush or pipe cleaner to clear any debris or slime from the drain outlet.
- 4. Inspect float switch: Access the internal float (usually near the base pan). Make sure it moves freely up and down and is not stuck by dirt or scale. Clean gently with warm soapy water and dry.
- 5. Level the unit: Use a spirit level to ensure the unit is slightly tilted toward the drain side as recommended in the manual.
If E4 persists with an empty tank and free-moving float, the float switch or water level sensor may need replacement.
