Possible Causes
Stuck reversing valve (heat pump models), Faulty mode relay on main PCB, Incorrect mode command from control panel, Wiring fault to reversing valve coil
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the unit before accessing internal components.
- 1. Reset control: Turn the unit OFF, unplug for 10 minutes, then plug back in and try selecting a different mode (e.g., FAN, then COOL).
- 2. Listen for valve operation: On heat pump models, you should hear a click or slight whoosh when switching between COOL and HEAT. If there is no sound, the reversing valve coil may not be energized.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Access the main PCB and locate the wires going to the reversing valve coil. Check for loose connectors or damaged wires.
- 4. Control panel check: Ensure buttons are not stuck and the remote (if used) has fresh batteries and is sending correct commands.
- 5. Technician service: If E7 persists, a technician should test the reversing valve coil resistance and the PCB output. Replacement of the valve or PCB may be required.
