Possible Causes
Failed ECM indoor blower motor, Faulty indoor fan motor control module, Loose fan motor harness, Obstructed blower wheel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the air handler at the breaker before accessing the blower compartment.
- Access blower assembly: Remove the lower access panel on the Fraser‑Johnston air handler. Locate the ECM blower motor and control module.
- Inspect wiring: Check the multi-pin harness from the main control board to the blower motor. Reseat connectors and look for corrosion or damaged wires.
- Check for obstructions: Spin the blower wheel by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. Remove any debris and clean the wheel.
- Test motor: With power restored, command the fan ON at the thermostat. If the motor hums or does not start, and correct voltage is present at the motor connector, the ECM motor or module is likely failed.
- Replace motor if needed: Match the Fraser‑Johnston part number and replace the blower motor/module assembly. Transfer the blower wheel carefully and balance it.
