Possible Causes
Tripped breaker, Blown fuse in outdoor disconnect, Failed contactor coil, Loose high-voltage wiring connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: High voltage present. Turn off main breaker before opening electrical enclosures.
- Check breaker: Inspect the AC breaker in the main panel. Reset if tripped. If it trips again immediately, do not force it; call a technician.
- Inspect disconnect: Open the outdoor disconnect near the condenser. Check for blown fuses (if fused type). Replace with same rating if blown, but investigate cause if they blow again.
- Verify thermostat call: Ensure the indoor blower runs and thermostat is calling for cooling.
- Check contactor: With power on and a call for cooling, the contactor should pull in. If not, test for 24 VAC at the contactor coil. If voltage is present but the contactor does not close, replace the contactor.
- Loose wiring: Tighten all lugs and wire connections per Fraser‑Johnston wiring diagram.
