Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
Steps:
- 1. Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes and restart. If F1 reappears, continue.
- 2. Locate ambient sensor: On many portable units, the ambient sensor is near the air intake grille inside the cabinet. Remove the front cover to access it.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Check the sensor leads for damage and ensure the connector is fully seated on the control board.
- 4. Test sensor: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to spec. Replace if open, shorted, or out of range.
- 5. Replace control board: If a new sensor does not clear F1, the main PCB may be defective and require replacement.
