Possible Causes
Loose or damaged communication harness between user interface and main PCB, Corroded connectors, Failed display/control panel, Failed main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing any panels.
Steps:
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes. Plug back in and test. If E6 returns, proceed.
- Access control area: Remove the front grille and the screws securing the control panel. Carefully pull the panel forward without straining the wires.
- Inspect harness: Locate the multi-wire harness connecting the display/control panel to the main control board. Check for pinched, cut, or burnt wires.
- Reseat connectors: Unplug the harness at both ends and plug back in firmly. Look for corrosion or bent pins.
- Check for moisture: Signs of water intrusion around the control panel can cause communication errors. Dry the area thoroughly and correct any source of leaks.
- Component swap: If available, replace the display/control panel first (often easier and cheaper). If E6 persists, replace the main control board.
Note: Handle circuit boards by the edges and avoid static discharge by touching a grounded metal object first.
