Possible Causes
Any of the thermistors (room, evaporator, outdoor) open or shorted, Sensor harness damage, Connector loose at control board, Main control board sensor circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power.
Steps:
- Identify sensors: Locate the room, evaporator, and outdoor thermistors as applicable to your model.
- Inspect wiring: Check each sensor’s wiring for damage and ensure connectors are fully seated on the control board.
- Test sensors: One by one, disconnect and measure resistance, comparing to GE’s temperature-resistance chart. Replace any sensor that is open, shorted, or far out of range.
- Board replacement: If all sensors test correctly and ES remains, replace the main control board.
