How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before servicing.
Steps:
- Reset control: Unplug for 5 minutes, then plug back in. If F1 reappears, continue.
- Access sensor: Remove front grille and control panel cover. Locate the room temperature sensor near the air intake or behind the control panel.
- Check placement: Ensure the sensor is in the return air stream, not touching hot components or buried in insulation.
- Inspect and reseat connector: Follow the sensor wires to the main control board and reseat the connector.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare to GE chart. Replace the room thermistor if out of spec.
- Replace control board: If a new sensor does not clear F1, replace the main control board.
