Low Temperature Protection / Room Temperature Below Operating Range
GE air conditioner displays LO and may not cool or may run fan only
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Room temperature below minimum operating limit, Faulty room temperature sensor reading too low, Control board miscalibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Steps:
- Check room temperature: Use a separate thermometer to verify actual room temperature. If the room is very cool (e.g., below 60°F / 16°C), this may be normal protection.
- Allow room to warm: If possible, allow the room to warm above the minimum operating temperature and try again.
- Sensor check: If LO appears even in a warm room, inspect and test the room thermistor. Replace if it reads much lower than actual temperature.
- Control board: If a new sensor does not resolve LO, the main control board may need replacement.
