Possible Causes
Tripped circuit breaker or blown house fuse, Faulty power cord or plug, Open internal thermal fuse, Failed main control board power supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Before opening the unit, unplug it. If you suspect a wiring issue in the home, contact an electrician.
Steps:
- Check outlet: Plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet to confirm power is present.
- Check breaker: Inspect the home’s breaker panel for a tripped breaker or blown fuse and reset/replace as needed.
- Inspect power cord: Look for cuts, burns, or kinks. If damaged, replace the power cord assembly with a GE-approved part.
- Test GFCI plug (if equipped): Some GE units have a resettable LCDI/GFCI plug. Press RESET on the plug and see if power is restored.
- Internal fuse: Remove the front panel and control cover. Look for an inline fuse or board-mounted fuse. Test with a multimeter and replace with the same type and rating if open.
- Control board: If power reaches the board but the unit is dead, replace the main control board.
