Possible Causes
Open or shorted evaporator temperature sensor (NTC), Sensor dislodged from coil surface, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty indoor PCB sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the breaker before accessing the indoor coil area.
- Step 1 – Access the evaporator sensor: Remove the front panel and filters. On many Gree units, the evaporator sensor is clipped to the coil tubing near the center or side.
- Step 2 – Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil surface and not hanging loose. Reclip or retape it if necessary.
- Step 3 – Inspect wiring and connector: Follow the sensor wires to the PCB and confirm the connector is fully seated. Look for damaged insulation or broken wires.
- Step 4 – Replace sensor if faulty: If the sensor is physically damaged or F2 persists, replace it with a compatible Gree evaporator sensor, routing the new wires exactly as the original.
- Step 5 – PCB diagnosis: If a new sensor does not clear F2, the indoor PCB sensor circuit may be defective and should be tested/replaced by a technician.
