Possible Causes
Communication failure between indoor and outdoor, Outdoor PCB failure, Contactor or relay failure (on some models), Open thermal protector on compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power before opening the outdoor unit. High voltage is present.
- Step 1 – Listen for outdoor activity: After starting COOL mode, go outside and listen. If the outdoor unit is completely silent, it is not receiving or responding to the start command.
- Step 2 – Check communication cable: Verify the multi‑core cable between indoor and outdoor units is intact and correctly wired (see E6 procedure).
- Step 3 – Inspect outdoor PCB (visual): With power OFF, open the outdoor panel and look for burnt components or blown fuses on the PCB.
- Step 4 – Technician diagnosis: A technician should check for control voltage to the compressor and fan, test the compressor thermal protector, and likely replace the outdoor PCB if no start signal is generated.
