Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain line, Drain pan tilted or not level, Cracked drain pan, Poorly connected drain hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the unit and protect floors and electronics from water damage.
- Step 1 – Check drain hose routing: Ensure the drain hose slopes continuously downward from the indoor unit to the outlet, with no upward loops or kinks.
- Step 2 – Clear the drain line: Use a wet/dry vacuum at the drain outlet to remove sludge and algae. You may see dirty water and debris come out.
- Step 3 – Inspect drain pan: Remove the indoor front cover and, if possible, the lower cover to view the drain pan. Clean out any slime or debris with a cloth and mild detergent.
- Step 4 – Level the indoor unit: Use a level to ensure the unit is slightly tilted toward the drain side. Adjust mounting bracket if necessary.
- Step 5 – Technician repair: If the pan is cracked or the internal drain connection is leaking, the drain pan assembly may need replacement.
