Possible Causes
Dirty indoor evaporator coil, Clogged or restricted air filter, Indoor fan motor not running or low speed, Low refrigerant charge causing coil icing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the unit and disconnect power. Allow any ice on the indoor coil to melt completely before inspection.
- Clean or replace filters: Open the front panel of the indoor unit, remove the air filters, and wash them with mild detergent and water. Dry completely before reinstalling.
- Clean evaporator coil: With power off, use a soft brush or coil cleaner spray designed for AC evaporators to remove dust buildup on the coil fins. Avoid bending fins.
- Check indoor fan operation: Restore power and run the unit. Confirm the indoor fan starts immediately and runs at all speed settings. If it stalls or is noisy, inspect the fan motor and blower wheel for obstruction.
- If E2 persists: Low refrigerant or a faulty evaporator temperature sensor may be the cause. A licensed technician should check system pressures and test/replace the evaporator sensor.
