Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain pipe, Blocked drain pan outlet, Faulty or stuck float switch (if equipped), Poor installation slope of indoor unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the unit and disconnect power. Be prepared for water spillage when opening the indoor unit.
- Check drain pipe: Locate the condensate drain hose from the indoor unit. Ensure it is not kinked, elevated, or blocked. Blow through the hose from the outlet side to clear minor clogs.
- Clean drain pan: Remove the front cover and filters. Access the drain pan under the evaporator coil and remove sludge, algae, or debris using a wet/dry vacuum or cloth.
- Verify slope: Confirm the indoor unit is slightly tilted toward the drain side. Adjust mounting plate or brackets if water pools away from the drain.
- If E9 remains: The float switch or water level sensor may be defective and should be tested and replaced by a technician.
