Possible Causes
Open or shorted outdoor ambient NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from mounting point, Corroded sensor connector on outdoor PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the outdoor disconnect or breaker.
- Locate sensor: The outdoor ambient sensor is typically mounted near the air intake grille of the outdoor unit, often clipped to the coil guard or frame.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Check for physical damage, UV-brittled insulation, or rodent-chewed wires. Repair or replace as needed.
- Check PCB connection: Open the outdoor control box and ensure the sensor connector is firmly seated on the PCB.
- Replace sensor: If readings are obviously wrong (e.g., unit thinks it is extremely hot or cold) or F3 persists, replace the sensor with a Haier-compatible outdoor ambient sensor.
