Possible Causes
Failed indoor DC fan motor, Blocked indoor blower wheel, Faulty fan motor hall sensor, Loose fan motor connector on indoor PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and wait several minutes before opening the indoor unit.
- Step 1 – Remove front cover: Open the front panel of the indoor unit and remove the filter. Access the blower area.
- Step 2 – Check for obstructions: Inspect the blower wheel for foreign objects, heavy dust buildup, or ice. Clean the wheel and housing with a soft brush and vacuum.
- Step 3 – Inspect wiring: Locate the fan motor connector on the indoor PCB. Reseat the connector and check for corrosion or loose pins.
- Step 4 – Test fan operation: Restore power and call for fan-only mode. If the fan does not start or is erratic, the motor or hall sensor is likely defective and should be replaced.
- Step 5 – Replace indoor fan motor: Removal usually requires dropping the blower assembly; this is best done by a technician familiar with Heil ductless units.
