Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coil, Blocked condenser airflow, Failed condenser fan motor, Overcharged refrigerant
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the outdoor disconnect before servicing. High-pressure conditions can be dangerous.
- Step 1 – Clean coil and clear area: Remove debris and wash the condenser coil from inside out with a garden hose.
- Step 2 – Verify fan operation: Restore power and observe the fan. If not running, shut power off and test/replace the fan motor and capacitor.
- Step 3 – Reset switch: Some Heil units have a manual reset high-pressure switch; press the reset button with power off.
- Step 4 – Technician check: If HPS trips again, a professional must verify refrigerant charge and system pressures.
