Heil air conditioner produces a musty or moldy odor from the vents

• Step 1 – Replace filter: Install a fresh, high-quality filter compatible with your Heil system.
• Step 2 – Clean evaporator coil: Access the coil and use a no-rinse coil cleaner designed for indoor coils. Follow product instructions.
• Step 3 – Clean drain pan: Wipe out slime and debris from the drain pan and flush with a mild bleach solution (if allowed by manufacturer) to kill mold.
• Step 4 – Duct cleaning: If odors persist, consider professional duct cleaning and possibly UV lights installed near the coil.
