Possible Causes
Open or shorted evaporator temperature sensor, Loose sensor connection on indoor PCB, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty indoor main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before opening the indoor unit. Avoid touching live terminals.
- Step 1 – Access the sensor:
- Open the front panel and remove the air filters.
- Remove the plastic cover over the electronic control area (usually on the right side).
- Locate the small thermistor clipped to the evaporator coil (often wrapped in a metal clip or foam).
- Step 2 – Check connections:
- Trace the sensor wires back to the indoor PCB.
- Ensure the plug is fully seated on the PCB and not corroded or burnt.
- Gently tug the wires to confirm they are not broken inside the insulation.
- Step 3 – Basic sensor test:
- If you have a multimeter and are qualified, measure the resistance of the sensor at room temperature and compare with Hisense service data (NTC thermistors typically read 5–20 kΩ at 25°C).
- A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Step 4 – Replace sensor if faulty:
- Unclip the sensor from the evaporator coil.
- Disconnect from the PCB and install the new Hisense-compatible evaporator sensor in the same position and orientation.
- Secure the sensor firmly to the coil to ensure good thermal contact.
- Step 5 – If sensor is good: If resistance is normal and wiring is intact, the indoor PCB may be misreading the sensor and will likely need replacement by a technician.
