Possible Causes

Outdoor unit in defrost cycle, Low outdoor temperature causing frequent defrost, Control logic delaying indoor fan to prevent cold draft, Frost buildup on outdoor coil

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Note: H1 on many Hisense heat pump models is an informational code indicating defrost or heating delay, not a fault.

  • Step 1 – Wait for defrost to complete:
    • Allow 5–15 minutes for the outdoor unit to complete defrost.
    • The indoor fan may stop to avoid blowing cold air.
  • Step 2 – Check outdoor unit:
    • Ensure the outdoor coil is not buried in snow or ice.
    • Clear snow from around the unit to improve airflow.
  • Step 3 – Monitor frequency:
    • If H1 appears very frequently and heating is poor, a technician should check defrost sensor operation and refrigerant charge.
