Possible Causes
High discharge pressure due to dirty condenser, Low refrigerant causing overheating, Blocked outdoor airflow, Failing compressor or inverter module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before cleaning or inspecting the outdoor unit. Do not attempt to bypass overload protection.
- Step 1 – Clean outdoor coil and clear airflow:
- Remove debris and clean the condenser fins as described for other codes.
- Step 2 – Check outdoor fan:
- Ensure the fan runs at full speed and is not intermittently stopping.
- Step 3 – Allow cool-down:
- Leave the unit off for at least 30 minutes to allow the compressor to cool.
- Step 4 – Technician service: If H3 recurs, a technician must check refrigerant pressures, compressor current, and inverter operation. Continued operation may damage the compressor.
